The Exhaust Gas Re-circulation (EGR) is an anti-pollution device, primarily aimed at reducing the amount of smog from the vehicle’s exhaust pipe. The EGR system works by recirculating a controlled portion of an engine’s exhaust fumes back through the engine. The EGR controls the flow of exhaust gases. The EGR system doesn’t operate during times of idle, as the presence of exhaust gases at idle tends to cause uncontrollable rough running.
